The Clare Island Regatta – Clare Island beach hosts the annual Clare Island Regatta. People come from far and wide to watch and take part in a whole host of races (both on and off the sea) including:
• Currach races (small traditional Irish fishing boats)
• Achill Yawl races
• Donkey races
• Egg and spoon races
• Tug of war
There will also be plenty of food and drinks served on the beach for the day with bouncy castles and live entertainment.
Ferry Sailings
There is usually a special sailing between Achill and Clare Island for the Regatta.
Departing Kildownet Pier, Achill at 11.15am and returning from Clare Island at 6pm. (Times for 2020 TBC)
